Born into a world of uncertainty as a Rwandan refugee, Jack Karuletwa learned early on the value of resilience. His family’s displacement forced him to adapt and thrive despite immense hardships. While pursuing higher education in the United States, he joined Grand Canyon University Athletics, where his passion for basketball blossomed.

Yet, his path wasn’t without challenges. Struggling to balance academics, athletics, and cultural adjustments, Jack faced setbacks that tested his resolve. These experiences, however, became the foundation for his unyielding spirit. After his basketball journey ended, he sought purpose in his father’s coffee trade, reigniting his connection to Rwanda and its agricultural roots.

Jack didn’t just start Silverback Coffee of Rwanda to sell coffee; he founded it as a vehicle for transformation. Recognizing the profound social impact coffee can have, he drew parallels between his two passions—coffee and basketball.
